Educators’ Resource Center

The Alaska Science Center, now the Academic Supprt Center, was founded in 1991 in an effort to provide a variety of programs including identifying, collecting and developing relevant science materials, conducting teacher education workshops, and working with private and public agencies to promote science education, especially in rural Alaska. Since that time, many rural educators have improved their science teaching skills by participating in intensive summer workshops, hosting science workshops in their own schools and making full use of science kits available for teacher use. The Science Center was originally funded by the Murdock Foundation and a Dwight D. Eisenhower grant. The Academic Support Center houses the current NASA materials.
