Teacher CO-OP
CO-OP stands for Certification Only - Option Program.

The program is designed for individuals who seek a K-8 teaching certificate in a minimum of three semesters. The program allows one to complete the 27 required credits of training and course work at your own pace to become licensure eligible.

Successful completion of the CO-OP provides a recommendation for Alaska K-8 certification from the Alaska Pacific University Education Department. Simply complete the certification process with the State of Alaska, and you are ready to teach.

After completing the CO-OP, you have the opportunity to complete an action research project and take 9 additional graduate credits to receive the Master of Arts in Teaching degree.

What sets the CO-OP apart from other programs?
  • Program can be completed in as few as 3 semesters
  • Excellent faculty
  • Small class size
  • Active learning—you know right away if you want to be a teacher
  • You earn graduate credit, which can be applied to a masters program
  • Our students get hired!

The CO-OP works beautifully for individuals working in schools who wish to complete their teacher certification.

The CO-OP program is approved through the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development.
