The Master of Science in Counseling Psychology Program (MSCP) is a selective, rigorous program for the creative adult who plans to become a mental health practitioner or enter a doctoral program.
Our program is eclectic in theoretical orientation and committed to celebrating diversity within the range of professional mental health approaches and techniques. While training students in a wide variety of counseling modalities, the MSCP program also encourages students to explore and develop their own special interests within the field and to formulate their own philosophy of counseling.
MSCP is committed to a “hands on” approach to learning.
The program integrates theory and practice. It is committed to multicultural awareness, ethical responsibility, and each student’s personal development. It recognizes that the field and the world are rapidly changing. Therefore, the curriculum is designed to be responsive to current factors influencing the counseling profession, such as managed care, certification, and licensure laws.
When you graduate from the MSCP program you will have acquired a professional competence in theory, research, practice, skills, and ethics as well as a better understanding of self and others.
