RANA stands for access to high-quality online education:
- for those living in rural communities
- for those residing anywhere in Alaska
- for Alaska Natives and others respectful of Native cultures
- so working adults can reach their professional goals
How does RANA work?
The RANA Distance Education Program allows you to earn a degree while living and working in your home community. You can take advantage of this program from anywhere in Alaska.
As a RANA student, you travel to Alaska Pacific University's campus at the beginning of each semester for 3-4 days of residency. During the residency, you meet your instructors, advisors, and fellow students. You also learn how to use online course technology.
After the residency, you return home to complete your courses via the Internet. Across the semester, you "meet" with classmates and instructors in weekly online chats.
What makes RANA special and successful?
We're an Alaska-based program—we understand the needs of Alaskans. Even though you may be located many miles away from APU, our staff and instructors work with you to make sure you have the one-on-one support you need to succeed in our program.
