About the Department

Offering degrees in environmental science, environmental studies, environmental planning and policy, marine biology, and earth system sciences, the Department focuses on developing firm, conceptual understanding of the natural world in order to more clearly understand human interactions with that world.

The Department offers the following undergraduate majors and degrees:

  • Earth Sciences, B.A. and B.S.
  • Environmental Policy and Planning, B.A.
  • Environmental Science, B.A. and B.S.
  • Environmental Studies, B.A.
  • Marine Biology, B.A. and B.S.

The Department offers undergraduate minors in the following areas:

  • Environmental Science
  • Marine Biology
  • Mathematics

At the graduate level, the Department offers:

  • Master of Science in Environmental Science

Graduates of the Environmental Science Department degree programs:

  • Have gained knowledge in a diverse array of natural and management sciences
  • Have completed significant environmental projects including class exercises, internships, and field experiences
  • Possess technical abilities in mathematics, statistics, GIS, as well as field and laboratory practices to address contemporary environmental and natural resource issues
