Alaska Pacific University, in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), is now the College/University affiliated program in Alaska for offering the SHRM Learning System Certification Preparation Course. The SHRM preparation course prepares professionals in the field for the HCRI Certification Examination (PHR and SPHR) or for updating knowledge in the field. Participation can also earn hours toward recertification. While there is no guarantee that enrolling in the SHRM preparation course will assure a passing grade, the national average for participants is significantly higher than for those that don't enroll in the program. The course uses the SHRM Learning System materials developed by the Holmes Corporation. It is based on the body of knowledge outlined by HRCI for the Certification Examination. All participants will receive, as part of the course fee, the Holmes Corporation's study materials and books.
Credit for Enrolling
SHRM Learning Systems participants receive a certificate of participation from SHRM and Alaska Pacific University. Participants will also receive 3.5 continuing education units, or CEU’s, after successfully completing the course.
Instructors
Our instructors are experienced, professionals in the field who are PHR/SPHR certified. They have been selected through consideration of professional credentials, instructional style, and dedication to serving their HR colleagues.
Who should Attend
Professionals who want to sit for the HCRI Certification Exam are the primary audience. The course will assist others in the field who want to expand or update their knowledge, so even if not sitting for the exam, participation will be beneficial. Professionals already certified may also want take the course, either as an update or as a way of gaining credit toward recertification. The course is not recommended for those individuals with no HRM experience or training.
The Essentials of HR Management class is aimed at the entry level HR practitioner, those considering HR as a career choice, and supervisors who have HR responsibilities.
