Students across campus

An integral part of your experience as an MSCP student

A significant part of a counselor’s education occurs outside the classroom through an internship experience. This is a unique opportunity for the student to begin applying theories and techniques of their classroom education as well as to focus their professional development in a specialized area of counseling.

Internship opportunities are diverse in clientele and therapeutic context.

In collaboration with the MSCP Director and faculty, students identify sites consistent with their needs. Past internship sites have included:

  • Southcentral Counseling Center
  • Anchorage School District
  • McLaughlin Youth Center
  • Southcentral Foundation
  • Catholic Social Services
  • Alaska Native Medical Center
  • Alaska Human Services
  • Salvation Army Clitheroe Center
  • Life Quest
  • Alaska Children’s Services
  • Abused Women’s Aide in Crisis (AWAIC)
  • Providence Hospital Breakthrough Program
  • North Star Hospital
  • Valley Women’s Resource Center
