CO-OP stands for Certification Only – Option Program
The program is designed for individuals who seek a K-8 teaching certificate in a minimum of three semesters. The program allows one to complete the 27 required credits of training and course work at your own pace to become licensure eligible.
Successful completion of the CO-OP provides a recommendation for Alaska K-8 certification from the Alaska Pacific University Education Department. Simply complete the certification process with the State of Alaska, and you are ready to teach.
After completing the CO-OP, you have the opportunity to complete an action research project and take 9 additional graduate credits to receive the Master of Arts in Teaching degree.
Fall Semester – June 1st
Spring Semester – November 1st
Summer Semester – April 1st*
* There are only two classes available during the summer semester for new students. These are Multicultural Education and Alaska Studies. If an applicant has taken them as an undergraduate they do not need to take these again.
