Financial Aid for International Students
There is only a limited amount of financial aid available for international students. Applicants must have an additional independent source of funding. Your application must be complete in order to be eligible for financial aid.
All financial aid is awarded in the form of tuition remission. Undergraduate students are eligible for benefactor and institutional scholarships and grants, which are based on academic merit and financial need. It is difficult to compare the academic ability of students from different educational systems. Therefore, students applying for academic merit scholarships should submit any available evidence, which demonstrated superior academic achievement, such as the SAT or ACT test scores, standardized test results from their home country, any academic awards or honors received, high school class rank, etc.
Graduate students may apply for Graduate Assistantships. Each graduate program at Alaska Pacific University offers 27 credits worth of assistantships per semester. The assistantships are available in the form of tuition waivers for up to 7 semester hours of coursework per semester. Students receiving assistantships are required to enroll in and pay for at least 2 credits above the number of credits they are awarded. Graduate Assistants provide research, instruction, or related project assistance for the department.
A substantial financial guarantee is required of all international applicants. Students must be able to provide this guarantee without financial aid from Alaska Pacific University.
