Both of our trips offer on-campus time to attend classes, interact with students, staff and faculty and get a feel for the APU community. The trips also include off-campus time that will be spent enjoying winter activities, exploring Anchorage and getting outside of the city limits.
We strongly believe in visiting Alaska Pacific University to see if we are the right fit for you. To make this easier on you, we are offering this opportunity FREE! Once you step off the plane all of your transportation, lodging, and meals are covered. All you need is spending money for Alaska souvenirs.

Experience some of Alaska’s most well-known traditions, and learn first-hand how exciting our winters can be! We will take advantage of the excellent ski conditions that March provides by spending a day on the slopes of nearby Alyeska Resort. The following day, you’ll root for your favorite four-legged athlete at the ceremonial start of the historic Iditarod Sled Dog Race.
Arrive on Wednesday and get settled with your student host.
Thursday there will be a tour of campus, the chance to attend a class, and the opportunity to sit down with the friendly people in Student Financial Services, Residence Life, and the Admissions Office to have all of your questions answered. All visiting students must attend at least one class during this time. In the afternoon we will visit downtown Anchorage and take part in the Fur Rendezvous winter festival. Activities will include visiting the Historic Anchorage Museum, winter carnival and giant snow sculptures!
Early Friday morning, we will travel to Alyeska Resort in nearby Girdwood for a day of world-class skiing or snowboarding.
On Saturday, we will return to downtown Anchorage to watch the beginning of “the last great race,” the Iditarod Sled Dog Race. You’ll even be able to take a sled dog ride yourself, a once in a lifetime opportunity!
Sunday will be spent bringing visitors back to the airport to head back home. We hope you had a taste of what being a student at APU is all about and tell your friends about the trip you just had.
