After teaching and working at a larger state university, I sought to teach adults at a smaller, more intimate university. My teaching interests include leadership, values and ethics, and research. My teaching background and passion for teaching adults began twelve years ago when I first began teaching in adult education at the graduate level.

My tenure at APU began in 2005. I currently teach qualitative research methods, values and ethics, and research methods for senior projects. My personal interest in research includes racism, white privilege, and white racial identity development; I continue to present research at conferences and contribute to publications.

The active learning prevalent at APU makes the classroom dynamic and the learning rich. It is a joy to advise, teach, and work with students on their senior projects. The senior project is the capstone of their degree program—it challenges students to synthesize the learning in the program and apply it to “real” life. The variety of their choices for their senior projects compels me to learn right along with them—the most rewarding part is watching them find their passion in research.
