Visiting Instructor of Health Services Administration
• M.S. Management and Administration, University of LaVerne
• B.S.B.A. Accounting, Creighton University
Prior to starting in Fall of 2008 at Alaska Pacific University, I spent 29 years in private industry. After arriving in Alaska in early 1980, I worked for four years as a Certified Public Accountant for Coopers and Lybrand. I was the CEO of North Star Behavioral Health System for 20 years from 1984-2004. From 2004 until 2008, I experimented briefly with retirement, moving with my three children to South America where we enjoyed traveling, learning new cultures, and perfecting our language skills.
Most recently I have joined the staff at APU as a Visiting Instructor. While this is my first experience as an instructor I have long been a believer in active learning as a source of personal growth and happiness. In addition to teaching, I have recently started a Ph.D. program at Saybrook Graduate School and Research Center. When not studying I enjoy spending time with my family outdoors, hiking, biking, kayaking and skiing.
