Course Add/Drop/Withdraw Policy

This policy applies when a student is adding, dropping, or changing course sections. If a student is withdrawing from all courses at the university this is considered under the Complete Withdrawal Policy.

Adding Courses

Students may add classes through Web Advisor or through the Registrar's Office. For the latter, the ADD section of the Change of Class Schedule form must be completed for the Registrar's Office to make changes to your schedule. During the late registration period (See Academic Calendar for specific dates) of a class, students may add a course. After the late registration period, students may add a course with the approval of the instructor and their advisor.

Dropping Courses

Students must complete the DROP section of the Change of Class Schedule form available at the Registrar's office or online through the Moose page. The form must have the instructor's signature with the certification of last day of attendance and the advisor's signature. The completed form is to be promptly returned to the Registrar's office for processing. Classes dropped after the late registration period of a class appear on the student's academic record with a withdrawal grade. The only exception to the above policy is when the university cancels a course. Under those circumstances the Registrar's office will process a WITHDRAWAL for the affected classes.

Students who wish to withdraw from a course and receive a "W" grade must complete the withdrawal process by the following timeline: prior to completion of 80% of the term (See Academic Calendar for specific dates). The "W" grade may not be granted after that date unless the student files a Request for Special Consideration and the "W" grade is approved. The student must obtain signatures of both his or her advisor and the instructor of the course, who certifies the last date of attendance.
