Education (K-8) APU’s online degree programs are offered through RANA’s successful and recognized format of high interpersonal connectivity combined with high technological delivery. Students initiate their studies each semester with a brief, intensive residency on campus. Students begin rigorous work on their web-based academic courses, connect with instructors and cohort members, become part of a community of learners, and practice and upgrade their computer-based research and interactive communication skills. Following the residency, RANA students complete the remaining majority of the semester’s studies in their home communities. In this distance-learning phase, students continue to work closely with their instructors and fellow students over the Internet through e-mail, online real-time seminar discussions, anytime threaded discussion board postings, and other new media methods (cd rom, power point, teleconference, and more). Coursework necessary to meet specific degree requirements is outlined in the APU catalog pages describing Education (K-8), the Degree Completion Program (Business Administration and Management, Health Services Administration and Counseling, Psychological Studies and Human Services majors). RANA students are also encouraged to take advantage of the various ways to achieve additional degree credit, including credit for prior learning, challenging course work, and directed study. |
