![]() Cardinal Newman ChairRegina A. Boisclair, PhD.![]() Regina A. Boisclair, Ph.D. speaks with a Boston accent and loves to travel. She has served as the Cardinal Newman Chair of Catholic Theology/Associate Professor of Religion at APU for the past eight years. "Gina" is Biblical scholar whose graduate studies took what she calls "the scenic route" so she especially enjoys the diversity of courses that she is able to offer at APU. Most APU students meet Gina while taking World Religions, Spiritual Environment or one of the Foundations courses that fulfill the General University Requirement for Ethics and Religion, some will follow her introductions and upper division courses in the Bible, or Christian or Catholic history, theology, art, devotions, and social commitment. In these courses APU students are join interested adults from the Anchorage community who are welcome into her classes as "Newman Observers." As Newman Chair "Gina" has sponsored a variety of fora, and free public lectures for APU and the Anchorage community in addition to the Midsummer’s Light Bible Institute that is advertised nationally every other year on the last week in June. She led a very successful travel course to Israel in May, 2000, participated in the APU travel course to Greece in 2004 and is planning a travel course to Turkey for May 2005 and will offer a travel course to Rome in the near future. Gina remains active in scholarly societies (Catholic Biblical Association, College Theology Society, American Academy of Religion, Society of Biblical Literature, Catholic Theological Assocation of America). She is also responsible for the development of the Ready Reference Collection in the Academic Support Center at APU. She is a member of the Interfaith Council, the Ecumenical Commission of the Archdiocese of Anchorage and writes for popular and professional publications in so far as time allows. |
