Cardinal Newman Chair
4th Midsummer's Light Bibile Institute
Although ordinarily we should be offering a Bible Institute in June, 2008, this will not take place until June 17-19, 2009. At that time we will feature Irene Nowell, O.S.B., a leading authority on Psalms, together with Fr. Michael Patella, O.S.B., a New Testament Scholar. Both teach at St. John’s University Collegeville. They will be bringing facsimilies of the St. John’s Bible and will offer a free public lecture on what is being identified as “America’s Book of Kells.”
Their topics for the Institute have not yet been determined. A free public lecture that will probably be in the evening of June 18, 2009 will discuss how biblical scholars helped determine the magnificent illuminations in the St. John’s Bible.
For more information on the St. John’s Bible see http://www.saintjohnsbible.org. If you wish to be sure to receive more detailed information on our 4th Midsummer’s Light Bible Institute email rleiner@alaskapacific.edu and ask to be placed on that mailing list.
