![]() Department of Counseling Psychology & Human ServicesHuman ServicesThe Human Services major is designed to meet the educational needs of adults working in the human services field who currently do not have a Bachelor’s degree. The curriculum is competency based and designed to enhance the current experiences and understandings students bring to the classroom, to provide theoretical and applied concepts that can be applied to students’ work and personal environment, and to develop a professionalism that allows students to become leaders in the human services community. Graduates of this program are expected to have the following:
Prerequisites for enrollment in the Human Services program modules include satisfactory completion of PY 150 Introduction to Psychology, PY 215 Lifespan Human Development, and PY 340 Abnormal Psychology courses or equivalent. These are required knowledge areas for all HS majors. Previously completed and related coursework in Psychology may be reviewed by the program director with a recommendation made to the Registrar’s Office that the related coursework be accepted as evidence of exposure to the necessary knowledge base satisfying the prerequisite requirement. |
