Alaska Pacific University > On Campus > Student Life & Services > Counseling & Wellness Center

Services are provided to APU students, faculty, staff and their families.

The APU Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC) is directed and supervised by a full-time Licensed Professional Counselor and staffed by second year graduate student interns that are currently enrolled in the Master of Science Counseling Psychology program, all personal information is kept confidential with the guidelines of counselor ethics and Alaska state law.

The Counseling and Wellness center consults with staff, faculty, and students on a wide range of issues, including: behavioral challenges, learning disability, emotional challenges, family dynamics, goal setting, relationship distress, academic anxiety and stress, and the transition to being a student in a challenging academic environment. Rather than focusing on deficit, the CWC offers the APU community a welcoming place to evaluate life's options and challenges within a strengths based environment.

The CWC does not offer diagnostic, psychiatric, or nursing services; however we have an extensive referral network which may be accessed as requested or deemed appropriate.

Services are provided across the APU community, including targeted services to Graduate and Post-Graduate Students, Adult Undergraduates, Campus Undergraduates, and Early Honors students.

The CWC hosts regular workshops and support groups on various topics, and has recently hosted topics such as:

-Adventure-Based Retreat Series

-Walking Sessions (Sign up for a 50 minute walk & talk)

-Body Language

-Yoga and Movement

-Therapeutic nature of artistic endeavors
