Visit Alaska Pacific University

Semester Snapshot

Thanks for your interest in Campus Visits at Alaska Pacific University! We recognize the importance of choosing a college that will meet all your needs and expectations. We believe that the best way to make this significant choice is to have a complete picture of what life would be like at Alaska Pacific University. In hopes of presenting you with this complete picture, we have designed short but intense campus visit weekends.

During your weekend at Alaska Pacific you will be assigned a "student ambassador," who you will be staying with. They will show you around campus and Anchorage and can fill you in on their experiences at Alaska Pacific. On Thursday and Friday you will have the opportunity to sit in on classes, and have a brief meeting with faculty members in your department. You will be meeting with Admissions and Financial Aid to discuss all the logistical aspects of attending Alaska Pacific University. Each weekend will have a different itinerary, but could include: the chance to participate in Residence Life events, an Outdoor Program trip, visit nearby towns, or cruise around Anchorage.

Alaska Pacific University has many things to offer: strong academic programs, small class sizes, an experiential approach to education, the opportunity to explore the last frontier, and an amazing community of faculty, staff, and students who are all here to learn from one another. We invite you to join us on one of our campus visit weekends and experience these things for yourself. We believe that visiting campus is the best way to determine if APU is the right fit for you. We also recognize the distance and cost associated with visiting APU, which is why we are willing to offset the cost of your plane ticket. APU will provide you with a one time $500 tuition credit to be applied to your first semester of tuition if you are accepted and decide to enroll.

Enclosed you will find a brief description of each weekend. To sign up for any of the campus visit weekends fill out the enclosed forms and either mail or fax them to the Office of Admissions.

Here are all the important stipulations:

1. APU will cover your housing and meals while on-campus and during Admissions excursions
2. An APU representative will pick you up and drop you off at the airport. We will provide all transportation for campus visit weekend activities. For any transportation needs outside of that scope we will happily provide you with a map and bus schedule so you can explore Anchorage on your own.
3. Students must make their plans at least two weeks in advance of their desired campus weekend.
4. While we love having student visit our little campus, we can only provide accommodations for students from Wednesday until Sunday. Please plan on arriving Wednesday or Thursday in the early a.m. (before 7a.m.) and please plan on departing on Saturday night or Sunday. If you would like to stay in Anchorage or Alaska longer we can provide you with information on local hotels, but we cannot provide you with housing.
