Outdoor Programs employee and Student at APU
Sal is double majoring in Outdoor Studies and Earth Science, while juggling jobs at the bookstore, Outdoor Programs, and interning at the Alaska Avalanche school.
When he is not busy at APU, you can find Sal, literally climbing all over Alaska. His passion for rock and ice climbing has led him all over the state. But his first true APU moment was on a Winter Wilderness course in Jan 2011, where he was on a 10 day back-country ski trip on lower Resurrection Pass. It was as remote as he had ever been at the time in the Alaska back country and it truly changed his life.
Quote
“Being in Alaska alone, is enough to change your life views as you feel the connection with the mountains and the power that they possess. My time spent in Alaska is imprinted on my for the rest of my life.”
Will have a paper published in 2012 that he co-authored with Eeva Latosuo International Snow Safety Workshop
