APU is committed to assessing and reporting the effectiveness of our teacher preparation program. However, because there were no program completers in 2018-19, some data are not available for this year. Rather than simply say N/A, we offer the following:
1 – Impact on P-12 learning and development
In accordance with our MOU, School Districts will provide data from the Measure of Academic Progress assessment for students of APU program completers who are contracted teachers in Alaska districts. These data will be reported following completers’ initial year of contracted teaching.
2 – Indicators of teaching effectiveness
Data will be collected through the Network for Excellence in Teaching (NeXT) Supervisor Survey as well as APU’s own internal tracking system for Host Teacher/Field Supervisor Evaluation Reports and reported as available.
3 – Satisfaction of employers and employment milestones
Data will be collected through the NeXT Supervisor Survey and reported as available.
4 – Satisfaction of completers
Data are being collected Spring 2020 using the NeXT Transition to Teaching Survey and will be reported once available.
5 – Graduation Rates
N/A (No completers 18/19)
6 – Ability of completers to meet licensing (certification) and any additional state requirements
N/A (No completers)
7 – Ability of completers to be hired in education positions for which they have prepared
N/A (No completers) 19/20 completers → 3⁄4 of 2019 Fall Semester student teachers were given long-term sub positions—eventually interrupted by Covid19; (4th person left the state); 3/5 of 2020 Spring Semester student teachers were placed in either emergency teaching positions or long-term sub positions.
8 – Student loan default rates and other consumer information
