APU Summit magazine now available online

July 19, 2013

APU Summit, the magazine of Alaska Pacific University, has launched with a summer issue celebrating the 20th anniversary of the University’s nationally recognized Outdoor Studies degree.

In addition to news from around the University, Summit highlights include profiles of OS alumni, personal essays by OS faculty and adventure writing by OS students.

“What I envisioned in this inaugural issue was a magazine that told APU’s story,” says University Advancement Director Stephanie Haydn.

“And what we have—what you’ll read in our digital flipbook—is a University narrative with a legacy and unlimited potential. That’s the APU story all right.”

Summit stories include:

  • A profile of Liberal Studies Professor Mei Mei Evans on the publication of her first novel.
  • Updates on student research.
  • A look back at the 2013 Alaska Pacific cross-country ski season, among the best on record.
  • An opinion column by Professor Dale Lehman, director of the Master of Business Administration program, takes a look at the politics of federal budget sequestration.

The issue also reports on APU’s tuition rollback. Print copies of Summit are available from the APU Advancement Office.

Summit staff includes designer Dean Potter, University alumni relations coordinator Heather Hansen and editor Rosanne Pagano, assistant professor in the Liberal Studies Department.

Contributors include writers Zaz Hollander, Annie Feidt, Amy Miller and Jenna Schnuer and photographer Natasha Kozlowski, ’14.
