Alaska Pacific University (APU) invites applications for Assistant or Associate Professor of Health Sciences/Health Occupations with demonstrated professional experience.
THE UNIVERSITY: APU is a small, private liberal arts university, known for experiential and project-based learning. THE PROGRAM AREA: APU offers three degrees in Health Sciences: a BS in Health Sciences with concentrations in pre-health, pre-nursing, behavioral health, and healthcare management; an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Community Health; and an AAS in Health Occupations. Additionally, the program area offers undergraduate certificates in Community Health and Health Occupations.
DUTIES OF THE POSITION: The contract carries a 9-month teaching load of 24 credit hours per year (typically, 3 courses per semester with some release for administrative duties). Course assignments are based upon expertise and needs of the degree programs. Responsibilities include oversight of the curriculum in Health Sciences and Health Occupations. All faculty are encouraged to develop scholarship or creative work in their chosen field, and faculty are expected to participate in outcomes assessment, curriculum development, student activities, as well as other service to the university and broader community. The successful applicant will be part of the Institute of Health and Wellness.
RANK AND SALARY: Assistant or Associate Professor. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience, and is proscribed by a university-wide salary range.
DATE OF APPOINTMENT: Fall 2022.
QUALIFICATIONS: Earned graduate degree in Health Sciences or related field at time of appointment. Candidates who can demonstrate expertise in both teaching and professional skills are preferred. Experience working with Indigenous communities is also preferred.
