Alaska Pacific University (APU) invites applications for a Visiting Instructor or Assistant Professor of Writing. This is a one-year appointment.

The Program Areas
The Liberal Studies program offers degree program in liberal arts and interdisciplinary concentrations. Liberal Studies courses in areas such as writing, critical thinking, communications also serve as foundational courses for other APU undergraduate degrees.
Duties of the Position
A part-time one-year visiting faculty position at the rank of Visiting Instructor or Visiting Assistant Professor in Liberal Studies will carry a 9-month teaching load of 12 credit hours for the 2021 – 2022 academic year. This position will emphasize academic writing, including teaching developmental writing for under-prepared students. Other needs this position may help fill include communications, ethics, and critical thinking. Course assignments will be based upon expertise and needs of the degree programs.
This position requires specialization in writing and rhetoric, candidates should have documented experience in teaching college composition and be able to demonstrate expertise in creative or professional writing, literature, communications, rhetoric, or another core area of the Liberal Studies Program.
Rank & Salary
Visiting Instructor or Assistant Professor. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience, and is proscribed by a university-wide salary range.
Date of Appointment
Experience teaching college writing required. Master’s degree required.
