As a producing theatre one of the most exciting things Perseverance Theatre does is work with Alaskan playwrights developing new stories into finished scripts.
The Ugly Children of Eve by Arlitia Jones is a working class fairy tale set during the Colorado Coal Wars in the months leading up to this country’s deadliest Class Warfare–The Ludlow Massacre. This work in progress is the story of a camp witch, the miners and their women, Mother Jones and one family’s struggle for survival and dignity. Braden Abraham, Artistic Director at Seattle Repertory Theatre, will work with Arlitia on this piece culminating in either excerpts or a reading, and a discussion of the work. This reading will be held on September 2 at 7pm. Reading open by invitation only.
