To maintain active status in the APU Dive Program, scientific divers are
required to maintain the following current certifications and training:
- First Aid for diving accidents
- Adult CPR
- Emergency oxygen administration
- Annual service records on personal dive equipment
- Minimum of 12 dives annually (to certified depth)
- Submit monthly electronic dive logs
Once the initial certification requirements of Section 5.00 are met, divers whose depth certification has lapsed due to inactivity or expiration must complete a check-out dive with the DSO to re-qualify. Divers who fail to make at least one dive near the maximum depth of their certification during each 6-month period shall be re-certified at the previous or reduced depth level.
All certified scientific divers shall pass a medical examination at the intervals specified in Section 6.00. After each major illness or injury, scientific divers must receive clearance from a physician before resuming diving.
