My name is Alan Conwell and I am the Admissions Counselor for Professional Studies at Alaska Pacific University! My goal is to conduct as much outreach as I can to communities across Alaska. I will be developing relationships with school districts, Tribal Health Organizations, and many other entities to raise awareness of APU’s current and developing programs for online and on-campus education. I will be scheduling periodic site visits for sporting events, college & career fairs, and major community events. If you would like to request a site visit to your school or workplace, please contact me for further details!
I was born in Anchorage and raised in Kotzebue. I recently relocated and now reside in Anchorage. I am an APU Alumni with my Degree in Business Administration. Prior to working for APU, most of my professional career is in Human Resources representing various programs and involved with recruitment for a Tribal Health Organization. I spent a short amount of time with the Boys and Girls Club of Alaska as a Program Manager. While I worked full-time, I took advantage of the online courses and scheduling APU offered.
I grew up outdoors, living in a small community we were always out camping, hunting, fishing, jumping on ATVs or snow machines. I spent a few years commercial fishing during the summers. I spend my free time with friends and family, playing video games, watching movies, or hitting the gym. I come from a big basketball family, so we are definitely competitive on and off the court with sports and video games.
The best part about my role as your Admissions Counselor is that I get to work with you and find out your educational and professional goals. Stop by the Admissions Office and let’s have a conversation about the outdoors, sports, but most importantly you future!
