Carol Smith grew up in Unga Village on Unga Island in the Shumagin Islands. She moved to Anchorage in 1993. She has been a member of the Sand Point Health Board as well as worked as a Sand Point Emergency Medical Service volunteer as an EMT. She was a member of the Space Mark, Inc. Board of Directors which is a subsidiary of the Aleut Corporation. Carol is interested in being a member of Alaska Pacific University’s Elder’s Council because she believes all children deserve the ability to receive a good education and especially students in rural communities in Alaska. She fully supports APU’s transition into becoming a tribal college and will offer her level of knowledge and expertise in the transition process.
