Lincoln Bean, Sr., has dedicated his professional life to the betterment of Alaska Native people. As an APU Board of Trustee, he looks to apply his experience and skills toward improving the quality of life and socioeconomic status of Alaska Native and non-Native students, utilizing culturally appropriate and informed approaches to support communication and collaboration between the variety of people, cultures and governments.
With more than 20 years of health care and leadership experience, Bean is a board member of the SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARCH). He represents SEARCH’s 18 Native communities as the chairman of the Alaska Native Health Board. He served as the Alaska Native Health Board’s interim president and CEO, and is an appointed representative to: Alaska Tobacco Control Alliance; Alaska’s SHARP Program; Tribal Leaders Diabetes Committee workgroup; and Facilities Appropriations Advisory Board workgroup.
In addition to being an Elected Tribal Leader to the Organized Village of Kake, Bean is ANTHC’s vice chairman and has served on ANTHC’s Board of Directors since 1997. He is an active member of ANTHC’s Alaska Health Facilities Advisory Committee, Committee on Committees, Executive Committee, Finance and Audit Committee, Leadership Planning Committee, Sanitation Facilities Advisory Committee and the Alaska Native Medical Center Joint Operating Board.
