Alaska Pacific University is dedicated to keeping the APU community, friends, and families healthy during this pandemic. With feedback from the APU community, we have decided to attempt an in-person commencement for Spring 2022 graduates. We are excited to have a commencement ceremony but to help mitigate transmission of the virus, we are being conservative and cautious in our planning. There will be some changes in our format from our traditional commencement ceremony as we prepare our mitigation procedures.
Our plan is to have our graduation ceremony at the Wendy Williamson Auditorium on April 30, 2022, at 10 am. The event will last approximately 1.5 hours. Graduates, staff, faculty, and guests will be required to wear masks for the duration of the event. We will update you on further COVID precautions as we move forward.
We may need to change to a virtual ceremony if COVID cases start to rise again. In the event we change to virtual graduation, Spring 2022 graduates will be invited to send us a two- to three-minute video to be included in the commencement video. The videos will be similar to our Fall 2021 commencement format. The internal deadline for us to move to virtual commencement will be March 18th.
More information on graduation will be relayed as decisions are finalized. If you have any other questions please, contact the Registrar’s Office at 907-564-8210 or email us at regoff@alaskapacific.edu.
