What’s your academic background?
Changed my major 9 times but finally settled on Economics with a minor in fine art.
Who inspires you?
Oh gosh! Lots of people. But if I say “Scott” can I get an increase in my camera gear budget? Oh, Canon 1DX Mark II, one day, one day you and I will be united! As for other people, this one older greeter lady at Fred Meyer on Dimond who takes her job to the next step and always has shopping suggestions for me and asks how my son is. Or that scruffy older sheet rocker at the dog park that I discovered is into photography and will spend our entire walk waxing poetic about the birds and flowers he photographs. My childhood friend’s mom who lived with her husband in a house with holes and blue tarps on their roof. Her solution was to put a shelf covered in plants and catholic icons, lovingly placed to catch the water. When the sun was right over the house the rays would pour down on them as well and it was magic. In short, it is the people with the strength to find beauty in adverse conditions.
What was the best concert you ever attended?
Rammstein, I have seen them a few times, but their showmanship was amazing! Fire-face thingies, music that gets people flying about, … though, that was a long time ago.
Where’s your favorite place in the world?
Spenard.
If you could be any animal, which would you be?
I am secretly a giant ground sloth (Paramylodon variety), but shh, don’t tell anybody.
What’s the last book you read?
Almost embarrassed to say since it wasn’t that good, but Ferrus Manus: Gorgon of Medusa.
What’s your favorite movie?
He Died With a Falafel In His Hand. If we spend enough time around each other then at some point I am sure to lend it to you.
What are you currently watching on Netflix?
Netflix? Whats that? Never had an account, though for a bit I subscribed to Showtime so I could watch the latest Twin Peaks.
Who would you most like to swap places with for a day?
“Oops, nope, that is politics. Nope, that one is too. Hmmm…” One of our 39(?) active astronauts while they are in space. I wonder if that does anything to your perspective of earth and the significance of our perceived toils?
If you could visit anywhere in the world you’ve never been, where would you go?
Either North Brother Island NY, an abandoned leper colony/hospital or Chernobyl. I LOVE taking photos of abandoned buildings, so the photo potential must be amazing!
What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?
Isn’t this potentially paradoxical? If I tell you then it would no longer be unknown so then I wouldn’t be fulfilling the request, I would be telling you something that somebody knows. Or is it based on the initial input? Like, mailing fresh produce that were fresh when I sent them but no longer fresh when you receive them? Seems that a more useful process would be with the end-user in mind, so they can only be labeled as fresh produce so long as they arrive to the recipient in a fresh state. Ugh! Smoothies. The answer is smoothies.
If you were a crayon, what color would you be?
Clear.
Who is your least favorite superhero?
Superman. How is an omega character with only one flaw, some rock that can only be found on a planet that was destroyed, be a good basis for the Heroes Journey? It is terrible and unrelatable! And why is it that every villain somehow has access to rocks from his planet like you can buy them at IKEA in the nic-nack bins? Zeros opinions on the mater. Absolutely none. Fun fact: I used to work for Dark Horse Publishing, the largest independent comic publisher in the world. Once again, zero opinions.
If you could visit anywhere in the world you’ve never been, where would you go?
Wait wait wait? This is a repeat question? Oh tricky tricky Q&A giver! I see your game! Oh wait, what was the question again?
