Winter 2017 Grads: Mallory Wetherington

Mallory Wetherington in a Kayak with her Dog

Name: Mallory Wetherington

Programs completed at APU: Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology

Project Title: Nurse Related Stressors and Solutions in Alaska.

Hometown: Centennial, Colorado

Best Classes at APU and why:
Adventure Therapy because it encompasses a variety of treatment activities and experiences.

What is your favorite APU memory?
In April of 2013, as the advisor to the Circle K club, I attended a volunteer trip to the Kellogg Campus Farm. That year we had already had record breaking amounts of snow and overnight it snowed 2 more feet. We spent hours working to get the farm ready for the summer season and every step we took we were falling waist deep, but the students in the club were in great spirits.

What is going to be your next adventure post-APU?
My next adventure is to become a Licensed Professional Counselor and focus my efforts on Outdoor Behavioral Health and Animal Assisted Psychotherapy.

Any words of wisdom for students working on completing their degrees?
Even though it seems difficult and unimaginable now, keep going. You will succeed in the end.
