I teach in the MBA and undergraduate Degree Completion Programs. My areas of specialty are financial accounting, cost and managerial accounting, financial management, international accounting, accounting standard setting, change theories and management, and grounded theory as method of inquiry.
My early career began with private sector accounting practice in my native land, Sri Lanka. For my doctoral dissertation I developed a grounded (substantive) theory of change by studying planned change processes at universities and colleges that revised accounting curriculum and pedagogy in response to AICPA’s 150-hour requirement for CPA certification.
My scholarly interests and practice focus include: a balanced approach to measures of learning outcomes; alternative models for profit measurement; relational approach to financial statement analysis; U.S. and international financial reporting standards, politics and processes; and the development of a grounded theory of corporate life cycles.
For leisure I like to read, bike, cook, do QiGong, listen to music, do photography, solve puzzles, and watch movies. Favorite quote: “Imagination is more important than knowledge”- Albert Einstein.
