Overview
“Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night” – Dylan Thomas, 1952
The Jim Parsons Memorial Scholarship was established to honor James C. “Jim” Parsons, an original faculty member of the university and its psychology program. Active in every facet of Alaska’s life, Jim Parsons was Alaska’s first mental health practitioner prior to statehood, was a member of the Alaska State Legislature, served on numerous boards of non-profit organizations, particularly in the arts, was a talented singer, and a committed volunteer. Founded by Jim’s many friends, the fund provides scholarship assistance to a student who represents Jim’s spirit and legacy.
Students interested in applying for the James C. Parsons Memorial Scholarship should check with psychology faculty to apply.
