Programs completed at APU: Bachelors in Business Administration and MBA
Hometown: I’m a 4th generation Anchorage girl.
Project Title: My master’s thesis is titled Alaska Adoption, Recruitment, Privatization, and Permanency Outcomes for Children in Foster Care. The thesis explores what recruitment and adoption services are currently happening in Alaska for foster children and then discusses what other states are doing and outlines their privatization efforts in order to increase adoptions.
Best Classes at APU: Marketing was my favorite class because I own a business and manage two non-profits, so I found the information helpful. The case studies, application and group work was interesting and relevant.
What is your favorite APU memory? Getting to know my peers through the leadership retreat and then developing relationships over the years during intensives and other classes.
What is going to be your next adventure post-APU? I will possibly pursue a doctorate in Public Policy and am hoping to embark on writing a book.
Any words of wisdom for students working on completing their degrees? It took me forever to finish my degrees. Trying to go to school, work full time and have children is no joke. I appreciated learning much more as an adult than I did when I first started. The learning is in the journey so go at a pace that can sustain the constant pursuit of your degree. I’m living proof that it will happen eventually!
