[PRESS RELEASE] Three Alaska Pacific University Junior skiers will represent the United States at World Junior Championships and U18 Nation’s Cup Championships

APU Junior Luke Jager APU Early Honors student Hunter WondersSoldier Hollow, Utah. Three APU Junior skiers have qualified for World Junior Championships and the U18 Nation’s Cup Championship, both taking place later this month. APU Junior Luke Jager qualified for both the World Junior Championships and the U18 Nation’s Cup and has decided to attend the U18 Nation’s Cup in Orkdal, Norway. Competitions begin January 27th. Luke finished 4th in the 15k skate race and 2nd in the 10k Classic races this week at the US Nationals qualifying races in Soldier Hollow, Utah.

APU Early Honors student Hunter Wonders was the top American U20 male in the 10k Classic and the 15k skate race, therefore taking the top qualifying spot for the U.S. for the World Junior Championships (which will take place on U.S. soil for the first time in over 30 years- Soldier Hollow, Utah). World Junior Championships begin on January 30th. Full event schedule can be found here: http://utah2017.com/

Canyon Tobin, also an APU Early Honors student qualified as first alternate for the U18 Nation’s Cup Championships, but was granted a position as another dual qualifier opted to attend the World Junior Championships, moving Canyon into a qualifying position for the U18 Championships.
