Robert Pond Returns To Alaska Pacific University To Direct ‘Night Mother

October 20, 2014

Actresses performing ‘Night MotherWhat would you do if someone you loved calmly told you that they were going to end their life in the next few hours? This is the central question that propels Marsha Norman’s ‘Night Mother, and on November 7th through 16th, Anchorage Community Theatre (ACT) and RKP Productions will present the 1983 Pulitzer Prize winning play on the Brown Auditorium stage in Grant Hall at Alaska Pacific University.

‘Night Mother revolves around a frank, unsparing and sometimes darkly funny conversation that takes place one evening between Thelma Cates (Linda Benson) and her daughter, Jessie Cates (Tiffany Dennis), that will challenge the audience to examine their own feelings about what does, and does not, constitute a worthwhile life and how much control we should have in deciding our own fate. Long-term collaborator of Alaska Methodist University professor Frank Brink, Robert Pond returns to the Grant Hall stage where ACT first joined forces with what is now Alaska Pacific University to direct this fast and furious one act play (learn more about Anchorage Community Theatre).
