Alaska Pacific University is a self-defined Alaska Native University, grounded in Alaska Native knowledge and committed to Indigenous self-determination. Our leadership structure reflects this commitment, bringing together Tribal governance, the guidance of Alaska Native Elders, and university leadership to shape APU’s future.
Unlike traditional university governance models, APU’s approach recognizes that strong higher education is built not only on institutional leadership, but also on the knowledge, values, and lived experiences of Indigenous communities. Through our Board of Trustees, Elders Council, and senior leadership team, we work to ensure Alaska Native voices and perspectives help guide our mission, decisions, and vision for future generations.
