Allie Sargent
Allie Sargent grew up Western North Carolina where she earned her B.S. in Parks and Recreation Management from Western Carolina University. In 2021, Allie completed her M.S. in Outdoor and Environmental Education at Alaska Pacific University, with her thesis exploring pro-environmental behaviors in students who attended outdoor-based first-year orientation programs. Over the past 9 years, Allie has worked as an instructor/guide in many outdoor pursuits including dog mushing, trip facilitation for the U.S military, and as a ski instructor/patroller. She spends most of the year as Operations Manager for the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) Alaska campus in Palmer and travels throughout the winter for NOLS to instruct Wilderness Medicine courses in Alaska and the lower 48. In her free time, Allie volunteers on the board of directors for the Su-Dog 300 sled dog race, fosters retired sled dogs for the August Fund, and spends time outdoors with her husband Michael. Allie is an avid mountain biker, skier, paddler, knitter, and ceramicist. She also loves dogs and competes in obedience, skijoring, bikejoring, and cani-cross with her retired sled dog TJ. *** Allie may be familiar to KFS families from 2019/2020 when she was first an instructor here. We’re so lucky to have her back!
