Brenda Fahlsing earned her associate’s degree in business administration with an emphasis on accounting from Capital Commercial College in North Dakota. Prior to coming to APU, she worked as an HR manager with a sporting goods store, and at a native advocacy group with accounting, gaming specialization, and payroll, holding over 50 years of work experience.

Brenda came to Alaska in 1982 and later joined APU staff in 2007, working as the University’s grants accountant. As of 2024, she has been working the position for over 17 years. As grants accountant, Brenda ensures grant money is being spent and tracked correctly, and that APU is following our purposes with funded projects.

At APU, Brenda finds the community to be like a family that always has each other’s backs, even through the ups and downs. One of her favorite things is meeting students as freshman and being able to see them at graduation ready to take on the world. Outside of APU, Brenda enjoys hunting, fishing, shooting, and classic cars.
