Brian Anderson has been Chaplain since fall term 2018. For most of the previous 25 years his work focused on youth ministry serving in local churches, youth shelters and residential treatment facilities.

During his tenure at APU Brian has sponsored Faith Club and Pool Club as well as many ongoing community and faith-based activities across academic years. Some of these activities include Bible study, Fat tire bike rides, Sacred text fireside chats, sweat-lodge experiences, creating sacred space for meditation and grounding for students, faculty and staff. This is a ministry of presence and focuses on being out and about the campus supporting the community through the ebb and flow of semester dynamics on both personal and campus wide community avenues. Brian regularly says ‘yes’ when invited to assist with teaching opportunities. Being in the classroom builds upon his ministry of presence focus.

Brian has a B.A. from Oklahoma City University in Theatre and a Master of Arts in Applied Theology from Marylhurst University. When not spending time on campus, Brian enjoys biking and being with his family exploring Alaska.
