• MSc Environmental Science, Alaska Pacific University
• BSc Marine Biology, University of West Florida

Born in the Florida Keys, I have had a strong connection to the natural world for as long as I can remember. While my passion is for the marine environment, I am fascinated by all living things, especially predator prey interactions, animal physiology and environmental drivers.

I have worked in diverse environments, from coral reefs in Indonesia, Honduras and Mexico to the pelagic and intertidal habitats of the Gulf of Alaska. Most recently, my work has focused on forage fish availability and quality, seabird colony dynamics and marine mammal behavior.

At Alaska Pacific University, I teach Principles of Biology I and II where I introduce students to the processes that sustain life on Earth, as well as the diversity of living organisms, and how these processes have changed through time. It is my hope that students in my classes will not only gain knowledge of new concepts, but form new appreciations for living organisms through hands-on activities.

When I’m not teaching, you will often find me exploring the public lands and waters of southcentral Alaska with my husband, two-year-old daughter and two Alaskan husky pups.
