Kala brings a plethora of experience to our Office of Advancement Team. Having worked nonprofits throughout her whole career in the likes of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), Syracuse University, and West Virginia University she finds herself thriving here in the higher education field.

After completing her bachelor’s degree at Siena University in Political Science with a dual minor in Multicultural Studies & Women and Gender and Sexuality, she has had a nonprofit focus ever since leading her to obtain a Master’s in Public Administration from Ohio University with a concentration in Non-Profit Management. 

Her pursuit of higher education has gifted her with some key experiences such as having been to multiple embassies in DC, standing on the White House Lawn, and interning with a film documentary company alongside the Smithsonian. 

In her free time, she likes to attend local events in the areas where she lives, spend time with her husband and her cats, as well as bring community together by hosting gatherings in her home like Friendsgiving and the Superbowl. 

As the Advancement Team’s Grants Coordinator, she works with faculty and staff on formatting grants and ensuring compliance. She coordinates all grant activities to ensure a smooth process for all parties involved.
