• MA – Applied Anthropology, American University
• BA – Behavioral Science, Drew University
Throughout her career, Meredith’s research has involved working alongside fishermen in coastal communities from Mexico to England to Alaska. In Alaska, she has had the privilege of collaborating with several Alaska Native communities. Her work focuses on ensuring the resilience of Alaska’s fisheries.
Meredith grounds her APU teaching in her ongoing research. Students explore the intricate relationships between culture and environment as they gain insight into how these connections shape and are shaped by climactic changes. As global ecosystems undergo rapid transformation, cultures must adapt their fishing and hunting practices in innovative ways. Coursework prepares these students to pursue an array of careers in Alaska.
In addition to a foundational studies class in undergraduate writing and research, Meredith teaches interdisciplinary courses including Human Relationships with the Marine Environment; Culture and the Environment; Social and Natural Science Research Methods; Topics in the Social Sciences; and Photo-ethnography, among others.
