Miles Markson
Miles Marksson, a Disabled Marine Corps Veteran from Marine Special Operations Command, earned his “sourdough” title in 2023 before even crossing into Alaska, when a moose charged and totaled his vehicle. He taught Field Radio Operations at the Marine Special Operations School and transitioned to a Marksmanship Coach after an injury. Miles holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies with a minor in Contemplative Psychology from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, where he also earned a Permaculture Certificate. His environmental career began in 2017, volunteering with the Washington Trails Association to pick up trash. In 2018, he advanced to trail work with the Pacific Crest Trail Association in Oregon. This experience led him to leave the music industry in 2019 and join a Conservation Corps in Southern California, where his favorite Crew Leader at American Conservation Experience inspired him to further his education in environmental studies with the goal of becoming a Project Manager. Miles plans to honor his ancestors by farming Icelandic Sheep and providing human-animal therapy for individuals facing challenges such as abandonment issues.
