Attention to detail, going the extra mile and simply being available for any need enhances the level of service each student receives, and ultimately benefits you in your daily endeavors to succeed as a student.

We are committed to your success and to helping you achieve your goals. Maintaining outstanding service has become even more important as we embrace quality dining experiences and enjoying meals away from home.

Our responsibility is not taken lightly – your success is vital to our success

APU’s Café Aurora prides itself on providing exceptional value, delectable meals, and offerings that emphasize healthy, sustainable food options. For students living in the Atwood housing complex, the Gold Meal Plan includes “all-you-can-eat” options for every meal, including weekend brunch. Additionally, with advance notice, the dining staff can prepare “meals to go” for students who will be doing fieldwork or cannot be in the dining room during regular meal hours.

Residents of Segelhorst Hall and University Village have the Silver Meal Plan, which provides a $500 credit each semester, allowing them to enjoy meals in the McMillen Student Center or purchase espresso drinks and snacks at the Ground Theory coffee cart in Grant Hall.

Students not living on campus may also purchase meal packages by contacting Student Financial Services or Dining Services directly. Meals may not be transferred to any other person.

  • “Take what you want, but eat what you take.” That’s a motto we’d like you to consider as you make selections in the Atwood dining area. We want you to enjoy your experience with the dining service, but please try not to be wasteful while you are enjoying the all-you-care-to-eat-meals.
  • Food obtained in the main cafeteria must be consumed in the cafeteria with the exception of to-go meals and sack lunches.
  • Un-used meals may not be transferred to any other person.
  • Dishes, glasses, and utensils must not be taken from the dining room. We ask that you bus your dishes using the bins near the elevator entrance to the kitchen.
  • Alaska Health Laws require that you wear a shirt and shoes in the Atwood dining areas.
  • If you have a guest visiting you on campus, they are welcome to dine with you in the dining room, but guests must pay for their meals. Credit cards and personal checks are accepted in addition to cash.
  • Students not living on campus may purchase package meals by contacting Dining Services directly or Student Financial Services.
  • If you reside in an Atwood building and you are away from campus due to a course trip lasting more than three days, you may request a pro-rated reimbursement of the food portion of your room and board costs.
  • The Dean of Students approves any meal plan adjustments due to significant, documented medical concerns.

The meal plan begins on the day the residence halls open and ends on the last day of class of each block or session.

Meals on all non-class days will be on the Weekend Schedule of Brunch & Dinner — including breaks between Block & Session, holidays, and Spring Break week.

Please be aware that the housing and food contract does not include nor require the provision of food during Winter Break or Summer semester.

The APU-Café Aurora staff is more than happy to do anything we can to cater to your particular dietary needs, including vegan and gluten-free options, allergy alternatives, and diabetic options. For more information, please contact Jeff Dunks at Jeff.Dunks@nmsusa.com.
