In collaboration with our students, communities, and Tribal partners, we empower learners to thrive in a diverse and ever-changing world. Our mission is to integrate Indigenous ways of knowing with innovative academic programs that reflect the dynamic needs of society, fostering meaningful engagement and ensuring that our students are prepared for a future of leadership, service, and positive change.

APU is a gathering place where Alaska Native knowledge leads, all students belong, and culture and innovation come together to grow courageous leaders for the next seven generations.

Grounded in Alaska Native knowledge and community, APU provides hands-on education that prepares students to lead with purpose, serve with integrity, and shape a just and self-determined future for Alaska and beyond.
