This is a two-part hybrid course; certification is through the Wilderness Medicine Training Center International. Part 1 is online while Part 2 is held in-person. Enrollment in Part 2 is limited, register early.
You must complete part 1 in order to register for Part 2. Upon registering and paying for Part 1, you will receive access to the course website and your online tests; and, a copy of WMTC’s Wilderness Medicine Handbook will be mailed to you. When you complete Part 1 you will receive a provisional certification that expires in one year. You must complete both Part 1 and Part 2 before your provisional certification expires to receive an additional 2-year full (non-provisional) certification. Tuition for Part 1 is $115.
When you complete part 1 you will receive a completion card and you will be asked to up-load the completion when you register for Part 2.
The Part 2 practical session is held on the Alaska Pacific University campus May 1-2, 2021. This is an in-person course and subject to protocols designed to minimize the transmission of COVID-19 during the course. You must agree to abide by the protocols to attend the practical session. The following downloads contain important information to help you prepare for your course. Use the course syllabus as a guideline for making your travel and study plans; note that topics and times may change subject to local weather conditions. Remember you must be present and engaged for the entire practical session to be eligible for certification. Be prepared. Thoroughly read the student handbook as it provides detailed information about expectations—yours and WMTCs—what to bring, wear, and how to study. You must complete the 14-day precourse COVID health log to enter the practical session. Tuition for Part 2 is $205.
