Day-Use Permit Protocol

To balance the needs of the public with our academic and community programs, we have established a day-use permit protocol for visitors to use our trails and outdoor spaces. This ensures that visitors can enjoy the trails while minimizing any interference with regularly scheduled campus activities, including educational programs and farm operations.

Free and Easy to Obtain:
  • Day-use permits are free and required for all visitors using the trails.
Permit Process Online:
  • You can request a day-use permit through our online form available on our website.
Scheduling Considerations:
  • To avoid conflicts with scheduled campus programming, including the K-8 school, agricultural education programs, farm activities, and research, we ask that visitors check the campus schedule before planning their visit.
  • Permits are required for all activities, including group hikes or events, and must be scheduled around our educational programs and farm operations. Certain high-use periods may require prior coordination to ensure that your use does not overlap with campus activities.
Use Guidelines:
  • Respect Campus Programs: Please be mindful of scheduled programming, such as school sessions and farm operations. Visitors should avoid high-traffic areas during these times.
  • Wildlife and Nature Conservation: Keep a respectful distance from wildlife and follow Leave No Trace principles to minimize your impact on the environment.
  • Non-Motorized Use Only: Our trails are intended for walking, hiking, skiing, and other non-motorized activities.
  • By securing a day-use permit, you help support a harmonious balance between campus programs and public access, ensuring that all visitors can safely enjoy our trails and natural areas while respecting our educational mission.
