Agriculture Education

Join Us at Spring Creek Farm

We invite you to join our Kellogg Campus team to engage with the work happening on our Palmer campus. Located on a beautiful and diverse 800-acre farm donated by the late Louise Kellogg and sitting on the traditional lands of the Dena’ina, Kellogg Campus provides meaningful learning opportunities that connect people to farming, food, and nature.

At the Kellogg Campus, we pride ourselves on tackling all subject areas with the goal of long-term food security and sovereignty for all Alaskans. We aim to decolonize agriculture and education through partnerships with local Tribal Conservation Districts and indigenous leaders as well as local schools and organizations. Many of our programs are supported by generous grants, so please do not hesitate to reach out with any financial needs.

Potential Topics Include:

  • Season Extension
  • Garden and Bed Prep
  • Soil Study and Exploration
  • Nutrition and Cooking
  • Seed Starting and Transplanting
  • Using and Preserving Our Harvest
  • Integrated Pest Management
  • Regenerative Agriculture
  • Growing Techniques for Northern Climates
  • Traditional Foods

…and so much more!

A Farm Visit to the Kellogg Campus includes a farm walk & tour, interactive discussion and lessons, and hands-on activities designed to create a unique, interdisciplinary experience for learners of all ages. Choose from various themes such as soil health, season extension, starting seeds, and using your harvest; or inquire about a ‘custom visit’, for a tailor-made experience to best meet your learning goals.

We will work with you and your institution to align lessons with Alaska State Content Standards, learning objectives, and student needs.

Educators from our farm can visit your classroom! Visits can include establishing (or re-vamping) a garden on your school’s or your organization’s property, doing a planting activity, and playing educational games along with extension activities of your choosing. Multiple standards can be met through hands-on activities designed to create a unique, interdisciplinary experience for learners of all ages. Choose from the themes or sign up for a ‘custom visit’, for a tailor-made experience to best meet your learning goals.

Do you have a class or workshop in mind? Is there a particular area or subject you would like to explore? Please reach out to us! We can work together with you or your organization to create a specialized experience.
